For Curious Minds

Since this is really the only way I get to keep in touch with many of you, I wanted to give you a little update of how I and the baby are doing, since care, concern, and wonder have been expressed by some (thank you). I just had my second appointment after my ultrasound last week, and everything with the little one is good, including the heartbeat, which I was able to hear. I am doing much better, now that I am past the first trimester, as I may have mentioned before. I was pretty sick during that time, and am glad to be feeling useful to the world again now. I have not gained any weight, probably due to my being constantly sick, but I anticipate that to change quickly, now that I have my appetite (and more!) back. : ) Since I was so sick, and being that this is my first child, I still am not showing, but once I do (around 6 months I hear is probably the time I finally will--as all you experienced mommies know), I will gladly share pictures. : ) Thank you all for your love, prayers, and concern. We continually pray for a healthy baby and are constantly thankful for the blessing of a child.

Picture Perfect

Today the first pictures of Baby Bodin were snapped at around 13 weeks old. : ) Here they are. It is so precious to see that little life inside of you. Praise God for such a blessing! The baby was quite active, turning, moving his/her hands, and kicking. Later in my appointment with the doctor I heard the heartbeat, which was nice and strong. Praise God again! You can see in the second picture (look closely) that the baby's one little leg is straight out--you can see the foot at the end of it), compared to both bent in the first.

Pregnant Lady Question

Okay, I have a question for all you prior and current pregnant ladies I know ;). I have seen this thing called a Tummy Tube or something at the store and the clerk talked it up bigtime, but I'm wondering---does it really work? It's that thing that is like an elastic/spandex belt/tube thing that you can supposedly put around your belly and fold over your current clothing, leaving the zipper and button undone, and folding this thing over the waist to make your current clothes "fit" for a while longer once your belly starts to grow. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Have any of you used it or known anyone who has and does it really work AND is it really worth it to get it-like do you use it long enough to make it worthwhile? Thanks for any advice you have!

Childproof Drawer

My Mom sent me this video, and it cracked me up, so I thought I'd share it. Hopefully it will give you a giggle or two as well. :)

Puppy Praise

I have a quick praise to report...as you know, we had 9 puppies that we were praying would go to good homes. Well, we weren't getting any solid responses to ads we had put out, so we decided to stand out on a busy road (well the sidewalk), and hold up "Free Puppy" signs. Today I went out with a friend of mine, though the weather was poor, with hopes of finding good homes for at least one or two puppies. I took only 5 first, and within 20 minutes they were all gone!!! So, we hurried back and picked up the remaining 4, giving them away within 10 minutes!! PRAISE GOD!!! We had been praying about this ever since the puppies were born. It may seem silly, but we were burdened about them finding a good home, and the Lord provided. All of the people either had dogs at one time or currently and/or had children. They all seemed like very good homes for our pups. It was bittersweet, though, I will admit that we will miss their sweet puppy faces, but the Lord is good! We're back to a 2 dog family now. :)

Something Personal

Well, I am doing something I haven't really done before, and that is sharing a pretty personal story on our blog. It is not that I am against it at all, but just have never felt the need or had a reason to do so. Now I do. I have to share this story in full detail so that you can understand the gravity of the situation and the true wonder of God in it. So here goes...

When this story begins was a few months back and at that point in time we had been actively trying to conceive, without success. Thankfully we are in the military, with military health insurance, and because of that do not have to wait a full year of not being able to get pregnant prior to start any testing to see if there is a problem with either of us that may or may not be fixable. Either way, we wanted to know, so that we would at least know if we can have children. Anyhow, about 5 months into doctor's visits, I had a test done that poured dye in my uterus to ensure that it is shaped normally, has no cysts, or anything else wrong that would prevent having a baby. The day of the test, as I was talking to the doctor beforehand he said that it is always a possibility that my fallopian tubes are not open all of the way to the ends, and if so we will see that and possibly fix that with this test (by flushing them out). He also stated afterward that we would probably not see that, as it is unlikely, but you never know. Right after this, as I was waiting for the test to be preformed, I prayed. I prayed a quick, but heartfelt prayer in a breath (as I was not able to do otherwise), just asking God that if there was a problem to fix it right there and right then. I longed to be a mother, and had been struggling with this issue of not being able to become pregnant. Well, as the test went on, the doctor surprisingly stated that my fallopian tubes were NOT clear all the way to the ends! Whoa, can we fix it, I wanted to know. He said he would try to flush them out, and he did! He did not say that it is a recurring problem or anything to worry about, but that some women just have that happen. Needless to say after that appointment, I was recharged, thankful, and felt that we had a fresh start, and two months later, right before Christmas I found out that I am pregnant!! So now, I am about 10 weeks pregnant, and we are happy as clams about it. We are so thankful and grateful to God. I am so amazed and thankful that I have a Savior who would hear my small, quick prayer, and answer it, granting us the desire of our hearts. Praise the Lord!

Puppy Play

Well, our puppies are growing and are just now old enough to be sold. Please, please pray that they all find good homes. Here are a few pictures of them now.

I apologize for the blurriness in this one...it's hard to catch puppies standing still. :)
Okay, this is kind of funny...this is one of our favorite puppies. She is the runt of the litter, and looks very similar to our dog, Missy (not the mother of the puppies). Well, since Missy has never had any puppies of her own, she has no idea what these little furry creatures are or what they want from her. Because of this, it is hilarious to watch her with them, because they can more or less bully her. She is in such shock about them that all she does is back up when they come after her. It's too funny. I tried to capture a few action shots of this and the result follows. :)

Carl's trying to show Missy that puppies are nice here, not scary. :) You can see the puppy cuddled up next to Missy.
Missy on the defense. :)
