Patriot's Day Battle

Patriot's Day is a Massachusetts holiday on which they commemorate the anniversary of the beginning battles of the Revolutionary War.  We live very close to Battle Road Trail, running from Lexington to Concord,  where some of the skirmishes of the war took place.  Anyhow, on Patriot's Day we went and watched the reenactments of the battle along Battle Road Trail.  Specifically we were first located at the "bloody angle" for any history buffs.  We were located right at the beginning, so were the first to see the British marching up.  It was pretty cute, as Will saw them coming through the woods and started yelling: "They're coming!  They're coming!".  Just call him Paul.  Anyhow, here's a few pics and videos for the curious.  :)

That little drummer boy was pretty impressive.

Camera Light Art

I took a photography class a while ago, where I learned more about how to use my nice new SLR camera.  One of the things we discussed when talking about shutter speed was this crazy light art you can do with a very slow shutter speed.  So, I experimented a bit when we were on vacation in the middle of the woods (space and darkness highly available).  Here's what I got.

These first three are Carl outside waving a stick that has an ember on the end of it.

Here I am inside using the fridge to try to make a heart.  It would be best if you could get outside and use the side of a building or something similar.

Drawing

Will has now gotten to this wonderful place in time where he enjoys drawing on his own.  For a while there he just wanted Mommy to draw things for him.  :)  With this beautiful weather, we have been able to get out the sidewalk chalk and he loves to "color" outside.  He also thinks it's pretty fabulous that he doesn't have to wear shoes to do so.

He was counting here, and I believe saying "eleven" at this point.  :)

The Cabin

Here are the rest of the photos from our time at the cabin a few weeks ago.  Will loved exploring in the woods, finding creatures, running on trails, and throwing stick upon stick into the river.  :)  We had a wonderful time.  Be forewarned, this is picture heavy.  :)
Will's excited to be at the cabin on "acation" (vacation)!

Daddy chopping wood with an audience...

...and a helper!

Love this picture of the two boys.  This was one of Will's favorite places.

Making a fire for hot dogs and marshmallows!  Yum!

Super Swing!

We recently gained a few baby swings from some dear friends of ours, and with this new acquisition, Carl made Will a tremendous swing on the side of our house in a huge tree.  Here's a few pics and a video.  It's pretty great.  All the neighborhood kids love to get their turn in it too.  ;)

I actually took this video through our side window, it's that close to our house.  We have since put some tarp material in between the rope and tree to prevent friction damage to either.  :)

Egg Coloring

Will and I colored eggs together for the first time this Saturday.  He enjoyed it, but wanted "more!".  :)

For some reason he was counting here and I got him saying "One!".  :)
