Carl's Tri/Duathlon

This past Sunday Carl completed his sprint triathlon that he has been training for. This "sprint" triathlon was supposed to be meter swim, a 15 mile bike, then a 5K (3.1 mile) run. Well, it turned out that the weather was too cold for the swim, so the "tri" turned into a "du"athlon. This is a run, bike, run. So, he ended up doing a 1.25 mile run, a 15 mile bike, then a 5K run. He did a great job, coming in at 1 hour 34 minutes! It was a little cool and raining out, and I had Will slung to me, while holding an umbrella, so the pics of the actual race aren't great. But, Carl did awesome! He didn't have any special equipment like everyone else, just my old bike and his running shoes! : ) Now he is continuing his training for a half-ironman in the future (MUCH longer than a sprint).

Coming in from the bike.
Going out from the "transition area" after his bike.

Coming in for a strong finish.

Crossing the finish line (he's in the black).

Where are those special pants I bought for you to keep your legs warm? Are you at least wearing the special socks? You may not have all the expensive bike and swim gear, but at least you are all set in the running area!
I am glad you did so well...
